Bratislava – What to do in 1 day

Para ler este post em Português

I went to Bratislava on my way from Budapest to Vienna and I don’t regret it at all. It is a small capital with a relaxing vibe so I hope my guide helps you with what to do in Bratislava in 1 day.

For more info on how to travel from Budapest to Bratislava by train check out my last day in Budapest 3 days City Guide – Day 3 of 3.

Where to stay:

I stayed at Loft Hotel Bratislava which is maybe one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at during a city trip. The location is great, near the Bratislava hlavná stanica Station and within a walking distance to the city centre. The hotel is very well decorated and the room was big and clean. I had the opportunity to have dinner there and the food was amazing! I still dream about those potatoes. As you might expect, the breakfast buffet the next morning was delicious as well!

What to do in Bratislava in 1 day:

I started my day climbing to Bratislava Castle, a white castle with four rusty towers. You have an amazing view of the city centre from there.

Primate’s Palace is a neoclassical pink palace in the old town of Bratislava. It has luxury collections inside that you can visit from 10am till 5pm.

The Blue Church was one of my favourite things in Bratislava because it has a cute baby blue colour! I had never seen a blue church before (or any other different “traditional” colour) so it was quite cool.

On my way to the hotel I stopped at Grassalkovich Palace (the official residence of the president of Slovakia, so you can only visit from the outside), it has a nice garden where you can relax and enjoy the sun (in my case).

Other curious thing about Bratislava were all the scattered statues in the city centre.

How to travel to Vienna by train:

I took the train from Bratislava hlavná stanica Station to Wien HBF and it costed me around 15 euros for the one hour journey.
