Vienna 3 days City Guide – Day 2 of 3

I travelled from Bratislava to Vienna by train, to find out more go and check my post about Bratislava: Bratislava – City Guide.

What to visit – Second Day:

Hofburg Palace – The imperial winter residence of the Habsburg family. I didn’t visit the interior, so I cannot comment on that, but from the outside, I do prefer the Schönbrunn Palace to this one. Yet, don’t miss a visit if you have time.

Kunsthistorisches e Naturhistorisches Museums (Art History Museum and Natural History Museum) – these two museums are twin buildings. If you buy a ticket for the Art History Museum, the ticket is also valid for the Natural History Museum.

Parliament (Republic Österreich) and City Hall (Rathaus) – The Parliament has English guided tours to visit the interior. The City Hall was constructed in a Gothic style and it is possible to visit the tower with 97 meters high if you don’t mind to climb 331 steps!!

Rathaus

Volksgarten – One of the most beautiful parks in the world is just in front of Parliament and Rathaus. Don’t miss a visit specially in Spring, when the park is full of flowers and the colours are just beautiful.

Votivkirche – It’s a church built in a Neo-Gothic style. If you are in front of Rathaus, go to the right and in a couple of minutes you will see the church.

Albertina Museum – I didn’t visit the museum but the stairs are just amazing.

Albertina Museum – Stairs

Augustinerkirche – Just next to Albertina Museum, you can find this baroque church from XIV century.

Burggarten – Another great park just on the back of Albertina Museum. Don’t forget to check the Palm House.

Stephansdom – Situated in the Stephansplatz, this Gothic Cathedral has an interesting roof. You can visit the catacombs for 5,50 euros and the tower for 4,5 euros which has a nice view over Vienna but unfortunately when I visited the Cathedral was closed due to renovation work.

Museumsquartier – It has Mumok Museum and Leopold Museum.

Mariahilferstraße – Shopping area that starts in Westbahnhof (U3 or U6 lines) and finishes in Museumsquartier (U2 line).

And that’s it! This was my second day in Vienna. I hope you like the post.
